The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles Saint-Jacques 1er Cru was more backward and introverted compared to the Lavaux Saint-Jacques on the day of my visit. The palate is more expressive with plenty of saturated red berry fruit, sea salt, touches of graphite and white pepper – one of Duroché’s spiciest offerings with touches of liquorice on the aftertaste. Excellent.
