Tasting Notes
Vinous – 94
The 2020 Beauregard is gorgeous. Dark, ample and expressive, the 2020 offers tremendous depth and textural intensity from start to finish. Black cherry, gravel, incense, tobacco, espresso and chocolate all race out of the glass. Even with all of its obvious intensity, the 2020 remains wonderfully fresh and vibrant. It’s a superb wine by any measure.

Full bottle 1,349 g. Cask sample taken 6 April. 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, certified organic. Fermented in concrete tronconic vats. Aged in 45% new oak. Deepest purple-crimson with purple rim. Surprisingly subtle but deep aroma of pure black fruit with only a gentle hint of the leafiness I expect from the Cab Franc. On the palate, concentrated black fruit, slightly savoury/rocky in that darkness, chewy but not astringent tannins. Lovely freshness on the finish to balance the whole, and a gentle fruit sweetness on the finish. (JH)
