The 2016 Corton Grand Cru offers cranberry and crushed strawberry scents on the nose, touches of petrichor and flint in the background, focused and almost steely in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity and plenty of tightly wound red fruit. It just tapers towards the finish when you wish it would fan out, and it does fade after 10 minutes in the glass. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. [Neal Martin, 22/10/2019]

“The 2016 Corton Grand Cru comes from red clay soils that are just 80 centimeters deep before you hit the limestone bedrock. It has a finely tuned bouquet with cranberry, raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry scents, crushed roses developing with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, brisk and tensile from start to finish and then pulling back so as not to overdo the finish. This is a case of less is more in a wine and it is likely to surpass the 2015 Corton.” [Neal Martin, 29/12/2017]
