Robert Parker – 90
The 2015 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière offers complex, nuanced aromas of red apples, powdered chalk and cold steel; this a little Puligny-like in style with very fine focus. The palate is very well balanced with vibrant acidity, impressive salinity and clearly good presence in the mouth. It gently builds and delivers just a soupçon of viscosity on the finish. Perhaps afford this a year in the cellar, as it has the substance to age.

Vinous – 90
Pale, bright yellow. Exotic on the nose compared to the 2016 version, offering aromas of lemon drop, orange and minerals. Quite ripe, even sweet, but not at all exotic on the palate, stuffed with rich lemon drop and ripe stone fruit flavors. Perhaps a bit aggressive as the second 2015 sample I tasted after going through a full line-up of Colin’s ’16s but this is amazingly rich and silky for Saint-Aubin. Finishes fine-grained and very long, with intense fruit and the power to last. An essence of vintage 2015 in style.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2025

Cask sample. Vines aged 45 years and 2/3 are 55 years old. Open, floral with a citrus undertow. Relatively easy and open. Lots of pleasure here. Maybe slightly less energy than in some years?
