Tasting Notes
Vinous – 89+
(this wine and the Vosne Suchots were bottled very late, in November of 2013, while some of the others, such as the Chambolle Premier Cru, were bottled as early as January of ’13): Good deep red. Very ripe aromas of chocolate and mocha, with a whiff of molasses; distinct torrefaction notes. Fat, silky and smooth, with slightly peppery acidity giving shape to the dark cherry, bitter chocolate, menthol, truffle and fresh herb flavors. Seems a bit dry and flat following the Chaboeufs: I don’t find a lot of sweetness today. Finishes with a cabernet-like menthol quality. A puzzling showing.
