Tasting Notes
Vinous – 95
Medium red. Knockout perfume of raspberry, minerals and truffley underbrush accented by licorice and pepper notes. Wonderfully silky yet energetic, with vibrant raspberry and Asian spice flavors complicated by sexy earth tones and a truffley sweetness. An element of saline minerality builds in the middle palate, with notes of pepper and herbs contributing thrust. Really stains the palate on the refined back end. Just approaching what is likely to be an extended plane of peak drinkability.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2036

Relatively pale ruby. Looks quite pale and evolved – much lighter than most Tâches. Firm. Heady perfume! Delicate, not as rich and deep as many other vintages. Firm finish. Very fresh. But quite tough and grainy on the end. Not one of the greatest Tâches. Not voluptuous but very fresh and lively and wonderfully long. Just a bit hard work at the moment.

Earth-laced blackberries can be discerned in the nose of the 2001 La Tache. Suave, plush, and regal, it boasts loads of candied black fruits in its deep character. This supple wine reveals superb clarity of fruit and an impressively long, fruit-filled finish. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012.
